This is Part 5/7: Meet the Team Mondays
We cornered our Implementation & Support Specialist, Zach and asked him a few questions about life at Border7, aliens, and Mandarin!
B7: What is your job here at Border7?
Zach: Client-side development, server-side development, design implementation. I’m always making things, it is fun to see an approach for a project become reality. Also there’s something new to learn almost every day, it’s never boring. (And the office is really close to some good sushi places.)
B7: What do you like most about working here?
Zach: The atmosphere is always a friendly place. The student-friendly policies, it’s nice to see younger people coming out of school and seeing what development is all about. In fact, when I was first hired I was a recent graduate!
B7: What do you find most challenging about your job?
Zach: Jumping from task to task can be challenging. When you have to fix 12 things on 5 different projects, it gets difficult to keep track. Solving the problems and building things can be pretty fun, though, so it balances out.
B7: Do you prefer to read from a device or a paperback book?
Zach: Paperback, definitely. E-readers are awesome tech, but you can’t beat real paper when it comes to the tactile aspect of reading.
B7: What is your favorite book?
Zach: I can’t name a specific one, but anything by Asimov is great.
B7: If money was no object, what would you do all day?
Zach: I don’t know, probably work out, code, and build stuff, and read.
B7: If you could master one skill you don’t have right now, what would it be?
Zach: Drawing, being able to make an idea real through art is a handy skill.
B7: If you could learn any language fluently, what would it be?
Zach: Mandarin, it’s a shame not to be able to talk to such a large portion of humanity.
B7: What do you like to do on the weekends?
Zach: Sleep, and sleep some more.
B7: What message would you send to an advanced alien species?
B7: What is your favorite music to listen to?
Zach: Something between dubstep, hip-hop, and contemporary orchestral pieces.
B7: Would you rather live in the city or the woods? Why?
Zach: Woods, hands-down. It’d be super peaceful, and trees are cool.
