This is Part 2/7: Meet the Team Mondays

Meet Joey!

We chatted with our newest Developer, Joey and asked him a few questions about life at Border7, favorite books, and Disneyland.joey 2

B7: What is your job here at Border7 Studios?
Joey: My title is “Programmer” but I actually end up doing a lot more than that. I spend a lot of time directly working on websites, but also do other things such as write blog posts.

B7: Do you have a favorite part about working here?
Joey: I really enjoy working here! A lot of my friends who also got their first jobs really dread going to work, I’ve never felt that feeling working here at Border7. My favorite part of my job is how it seems like I’m doing something different everyday. Some days I might be working on a website’s styling, or writing a script for the site. But the next day I could be writing blogs and working with SEO tools. That has got to be my favorite part of Web Design, the varied nature of the work, it’s never boring!

B7: Do you prefer reading from a device or a paperback book?
Joey: For my personal reading, I really enjoy reading paperback. For school work, I usually always go digital. I can add notes that are easily searchable, and it’s much easier to not have to lug a heavy textbook from school and back.

B7: What is your favorite book?
Joey: I love reading books and it’s really hard for me to choose my favorite one. If I had to choose one however, it would be “The Catcher in the Rye”. I read it at a very poignant time in my life and it’s always meant a lot to me!

B7: If money were no object what would you do all day?
Joey: First of all, I would sleep in, but then after that, I would just try to do something new everyday. I wouldn’t really want to be the kind of wealthy person who is always buying expensive cars and spending extravagantly. Instead I’d just try to use the opportunity to experience a variety of experiences in life!

B7: What is your favorite music to listen to?
Joey: When listening to music I tend to become very attached to bands instead, of listening to a wide variety of bands in the same genre. My favorite bands that I’ve listened to extensively are: Neutral Milk Hotel, The Smiths, Belle & Sebastian, and The Mountain Goats. I have collected the entire Mountain Goats discography and have 48 albums totaling 470+ songs. Something all these bands have in common is that they all have very expressive lyrics and catchy tunes and beats. I also have a record collection filled with classic Jazz albums and I’m trying to collect all the Beatles vinyl.

B7: If you were on death row, what would your final meal be?
Joey: Morbid question, but I like it! Some of my favorite things to eat are cheese pizza from Toppers Pizza here in Simi, In-N-Out burger, tri-tip, and filet mignon. But since I have to choose one final meal I would choose an In-N-Out double double meal. You may be wondering why would you choose a burger over expensive filet mignon? Well, you can be the best chef in the world but sometimes the meat it self isn’t good, or is cooked to much. Or sometimes the pizza seems to have been cooked a little too long, or the tri-tip is tough. But never in my life have I had an In-N-Out burger which I haven’t enjoyed! So better to be safe than sorry, especially with the last thing you ever eat!

B7: What are three things most people do not know about you?
Joey:

  1. I’ve never seen the last Harry Potter movie. As a die hard fan I’ve read all the books, and seen all the movies all the way up until the Deathly Hallows part 2. But don’t worry, I have solid reasoning for this. As long as I don’t watch that last movie then to me I still have that feeling that there is still always more Harry Potter left to experience!
  2. I don’t consider myself to be an expert in a lot of things, but I have a few things where I can honestly say that I probably know way more than the average person. One of these topics is Disneyland! I’m not even a huge fan of the movies or anything, I mean I haven’t even seen the Lion King. But I can tell you anything you want to know about the rides, the construction, and the logistics that create Disneyland.
  3. I’m pretty well traveled. Because I’ve been blessed with a family that loves to travel, I have been to quite a few cities and countries for someone my age! A few cities and countries which I have visited are:
