Facebook has become a social platform we now use for business groups and to represent ourselves professional. We’ve seen a shift in people using Facebook strictly for socializing with their friends and family to it being a great business tool to help position yourself as the face of your company.

If you haven’t already made a Facebook group that focuses on a topic related to your business, this should be one of the next steps you take! By creating a group on Facebook, you’re facilitating a conversation where your expertise can shine.

This helps to position you as the expert, starting conversations and building relationships.

Great for Those on the Go with Shorter Attention Spans

Most social media platforms come with an app that you can get on your phone and use on the go. This is a great way to keep your finger on the pulse of your business and communicate with your community of followers, and share your take on topics related to your industry.

If you have a client/customer reach out, you can respond quickly on social and help give them an idea of your process and the kind of service they’d be getting if they worked with you.

The 80/20 Rule

When it comes to posting on social media, we recommend that our clients follow the 80/20 rule where some posts are about your business (about 20%), but the other posts are helpful resources, guides or info that your audience would be interested in that isn’t from you.

No one likes to have their social feed bombarded with promotions from a business, so by following this rule you can make sure that you strike a healthy balance and encourage people to continue following you.

Use a Social Scheduler

Hootsuite and SocialPilot are both great options to use to automatically schedule your posts for the week into social media.

This makes sure that you’re continuing to have a voice and engage with your audience online, and you can pick a day to schedule a week to a month worth of posts.

It’s a great way to save time and avoid letting the weeks fly by without a word from you.

Some business owners may find social media to be too overwhelming for them to market and promote their business. If this is the case for you, focus on 1 (or how many you feel you can comfortably and consistently manage) and start there.

You don’t have to be on all social platforms (especially if you’re going to go silent and not post anything).
